Countdown

So, when do you start the countdown.
Is it when you decide you’re off somewhere?

When you book your trip?

When you pay?

When you get your tickets?

Or do you not have a countdown?

I’m on my countdown, 43 days to go. Not sure when it started really, probably at the prompting of my sister who’s coming with me, when it was 79 days to go and for no real reason, it wasn’t final payment, it wasn’t tickets, I think it was just excitment.

Have I started packing, no, have I thought about it, yes… :) I’ve started to get requests from people overseas for things they want bought over that they miss from Australia, and also from Aussies with things that are just so much cheaper over in the USA.

Grateful for my lovely iphone as it’s keeping all of these lists plus my travel arrangements all together. Not sure that I’m entirely ready to go paperless, but both my iPhone and iPad have all the confirmation numbers, so we might try it this time and have the paper as a back up, but that could be a whole nother blog… :)

I do now have all of my tickets, organised and ready to fly.

I’m a planner from way back, so everything is booked in, flights, accommodation, car hire and our cruise (Allure of the Seas – currently the biggest cruise ship in the world…. I can’t wait!) My sister, not normally the planner has now been researching the best places to eat in each town, so we have options… :)

Anyway, enough for now, check out the poll below – when does your countdown begin?

Welcome 2012!

Hi everyone, my first blog for 2012, hopefully the first of many.

This year looms as an exciting year.

Travel Escapes celebrates it’s 10th birthday.

I’m heading back to the USA to check out more places that you might like to visit such as New Orleans, Memphis to see if I can see Elvis, Nashville to catch up with Keith and Nicole and their bubs.  Pigeon Forge to stay in the Inn at Christmas place, who wouldn’t want Christmas all year round? The Vanderbilt residence (the Biltmore) at Ashville looks stunning, can’t wait to see it in person. Then on to Charlotte to check out the home  of NASCAR.  Then comes Wilmington home to Dawson’s Creek and One Tree Hill and numerous movies and TV shows.  Maybe have lunch at Karen’s Cafe or the River court :)

Then it’s shopping time, along with catching up with my aunt who lives in Florida. Before heading to Daytona for a drive in a race car, Key Largo for a relax by the sea, then Fort Lauderdale to cruise the stars homes, and get ready for our next cruise.

Allure of the Seas, Royal Caribbean’s latest and greatest! 7 nights in the Eastern Caribbean in a balcony cabin, watching the world float by.

And to finish it off 4 nights in Vegas baby!

If things go to plan I’ll post some pictures of the trip as I go, if not, when I get back, so keep an eye out.  And with travel, you never know where else I might go, or I maybe you’ll just get to see some old images from previous trips.

Enjoy!
